Wake County’s traditional-calendar students are off from Friday, March 26, through Monday, April 5, 2027, and go back Tuesday, April 6. That is the district’s 2026-27 traditional calendar:

Camps

Town of Cary School’s Out and track-out camps. The town runs day camps whenever school is out, for kindergarten through sixth grade, at Bond Park, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Registration is by the week on RecTrac, with no partial weeks, and camp is closed on town holidays, according to the town’s camp information page. Campers bring a bag lunch, two snacks and a drink. Need-based discounts of up to 95% are available through the town’s Play It Forward fund. Good Friday is a town holiday, so there is no town camp that day.

The town’s program guide, with each season’s camps, is at carync.gov/programguide. In 2026 the town opened summer camp registration in February.

Things to do

Spring BreakOUT at Downtown Cary Park. A free, park-wide day for kids. In 2026 it ran 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, and Thursday, April 2, with a space theme: Imagination Blocks, stomp rockets, blacklight pottery painting, outdoor laser tag and a Mad Science show (2026 event page). The 2027 dates were not posted when we checked; watch the park calendar.

Lake Crabtree County Park, Wake County’s park near Cary’s northern edge, is open 8 a.m. to sunset every day, with more than 16 miles of trails, a playground and a lakeside path, according to the county’s visitor page. Its boat rentals do not open until mid-May.

Triangle Aquatic Center, 275 Convention Drive, has indoor pools open to the public with no membership needed, the town says on its Swim in Cary page. Call 919-459-4045 for open swim times.

What is open on Good Friday

Good Friday, March 26, 2027, is a Town of Cary holiday, and town offices are closed. Last year, on Good Friday 2026, there was no curbside trash collection and the Citizen’s Convenience Center was closed, according to the town’s March 2026 newsletter. GoCary buses ran their regular schedule, with Door to Door limited to Tier 1 trips (GoCary holiday hours). Wake County libraries stayed open on Good Friday 2026, according to the county’s holiday schedule.
