What ran in 2026

Mother’s Day at Fenton, Sunday, May 10, 2026, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A free afternoon in Fenton Square by Paragon Theaters, 21 Fenton Main St., with a fresh flower pop-up from Petal Haus from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Zapped Permanent Jewelry making custom pieces, sweets from You Me and Sweets from noon, live acoustic music and a poet writing poems on request (Fenton event page).

Mother’s Day: Music & Pampering in the Park, 2025. Downtown Cary Park held a free Mother’s Day event on Sunday, May 11, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with free chair massages for moms, the Art Cart and lawn games (2025 event page). The park did not list a Mother’s Day event for 2026. Its weekend before Mother’s Day 2026 was the two-day Kids Food Fest, May 9-10, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Gift markets

  • Cary Farmers Market, East Park Street, downtown: Saturday mornings. On Saturday, May 9, 2026, the day before Mother’s Day, it ran 8 a.m. to noon (park calendar). Our farmers markets guide has the season’s hours.
  • Cary Night Market, Downtown Cary Park: one Friday evening a month, 5 to 9 p.m. In 2026 the May market fell after Mother’s Day, on May 15.
  • The GRL Market of women-owned brands at Waverly Place, 302 Colonades Way, runs on some Saturdays; dates are on Waverly’s events calendar.

Free outings with mom

  • Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve and Stevens Nature Center, 2616 Kildaire Farm Road: about three miles of mulched trails, overlooks and the nature center’s exhibits. The town lists the preserve open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the nature center 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday (town page).
