Green Level is the old farming community in west Cary that has become one of the town’s main growth areas. The town’s Green Level Special Planning Area plan places it “in the western part of Cary between NC-540 to the east and the Wake-Chatham county line to the west,” with the Town of Apex’s planning area immediately south. “A sizable amount of the remaining developable land in Cary lies within the Green Level area,” the plan says, and new neighborhoods have been “gradually changing the historically rural character to a more suburban one.” Homes here have Cary 27519 or Apex 27523 mailing addresses.

Where it is
At the heart of the area is the Green Level National Register Rural Historic District, established in 2001, which includes Green Level Baptist Church and the Albert M. Council House on Green Level Church Road, according to the plan. It “has lost a number of contributing historic structures in recent years.” The plan lists the USA Baseball National Training Complex, the American Tobacco Trail, new schools and greenways and the Triangle Expressway interchange at Green Level West Road among the changes of the past decade. OpenStreetMap names Green Level as a place, with its point on Green Level Church Road.
The plan’s area reaches the Chatham County line, and the county line matters: a home on the Chatham side pays Chatham’s county tax and is served by Chatham County Schools. Check the parcel on Wake County’s iMAPS map before you buy.
For schools and ZIP codes, we took the 16 neighborhoods in the Town of Cary’s residential boundaries data whose centers lie within about 1.3 miles of the OpenStreetMap point, among them Green Level Trail, Woodlands at Green Level Crossing, Manor at Green Level Crossing, CopperLeaf and Toscana. How we built this page
The boundary and history come from the town’s Green Level Special Planning Area plan; the neighborhood list comes from the town’s residential boundaries data near the OpenStreetMap place point. School zones come from the district’s attendance-area map for 2026-27, checked at the middle of each neighborhood; a home near a zone line can differ. We found no town or county registry of homeowners associations for Green Level, so this page does not describe them.
