Last checked Oct. 12, 2026. Refreshed every three months.
Cary’s barbecue is spread out, not clustered: one restaurant downtown on East Cedar Street, one on NW Maynard Road, one on Ashville Avenue and two in the Crossroads and Bass Pro Lane shopping areas. Five Spice BBQ, on Darrington Drive, is Korean barbecue, not Southern pit barbecue.
How we made this list. The places come from OpenStreetMap records inside Cary’s town limits, the same data behind our local directory, checked against each place’s own website on Oct. 12, 2026. Where a site would not load for us, a 2026 record in Wake County’s restaurant inspection data confirms the place is operating. We dropped one map entry, a barbecue chain on Kildaire Farm Road, that we could not confirm. The list is alphabetical. It is not a ranking or a recommendation, and nobody paid to be on it.
